Mental health issues

Mental health problems can put severe stains on the best of partnerships, particularly when the problem is concealed or borderline, or if children are involved. Most human beings struggle with feeling sad and hopeless at some time, feeling alone or anxious about many of life’s concerns. Often simple strategies are all that are needed for a correction but sometimes more serious issues arise.

Many Australian College of Relationship Counselling members have training and experience in mental health.  Some have backgrounds in the health professions such as mental health nursing, psychology, occupational therapy etc.  Seeking such a trained professional may be important if one or both of a couple have serious mental health concerns. The counsellors listed on this website have hundreds of hours of training and experience in listening to and weaving into the fragilities of individuals within the couple.
